How
the Ré cooperative works
The cooperative winery is made up of members, also known as shareholders or cooperative members.
Each member is a co-owner of the cooperative, which means that every member takes part in both production and decision-making.
The cooperative model enables members to share risks and costs, as well as strengths, expertise and production resources.
The Île de Ré winegrowers' cooperative winery brings together around 60 members growing approximately 600 hectares of vines, no less than 7% of the island's total area. Growers deliver their harvest to the cooperative and are paid according to both volume and quality.
The Winemaking and the production of wines and spirits are handled by the cooperative, which also undertakes bottling and marketing.
